july recap
been busy recently!
ICYMI
(in case you missed it) It was yet another jam-packed and awesome month! I started off by enjoying some time with friends and hanging out at home. Then, we went to Bozeman, MT, for a short and sweet vacation. My college visit was so wonderful and I really enjoyed it. I also finally bought cowboy boots and they are PERFECT and that same night I bought them, I wore them to Music on Main which was super fun! When we came home we had about a week before leaving for Oregon so I took full advantage. I made Christmas in July cookies, went to the mall, and hung out with friends! Then, we went to Oregon and enjoyed a ton of great food, good company, and beautiful veiws! Once we went to Washington we went Sturgeon fishing which was so amazing and I, #humblebrag caught a 6 footer! We went on the fruit loop and that was also really great! Finally, we came home and relaxed after a busy couple of weeks. This month was so jam packed and really really fun!

favorite ingredients
I love brown butter. If I had all the time in the world, I would make more things with brown butter, but unfortunately that is time I do not have! It just adds a wonderful depth of flavor and a subtle nutty-ness that I love.
Lavender is an unexpected take for me! I don’t love the flavor very often, a lot of the time it is too strong for my taste, but in the sundae sauce I had it was so delicious paired with blueberries!
I’m obsessed with coffee. Everyone who knows me knows that! This one isn’t super specific to anything I ate this month but I had plenty of good coffee this month.
Malt powder is an underrated favorite! I like malt flavor in a lot of different things but I had an outstanding malt and walnut cookie this month, more to come on that.
Blueberries are so great seasonally and I’m super particular about them. There is nothing worse than a squishy, flavorless blueberry to me. But, the ones I had this month were so delish. And blueberries in the sundae sauce I had paired with the lavender was SO SO GOOD.
Walnuts are so versatile and I had the best malted walnut cookie a few days ago! I can’t wait to recreate that cookie!
Cinnamon is a boring pick, I know. But, it’s a great addition to coffee and baked goods that adds such a depth of flavor!
food!
top three eats this month
The Larch Mountain Sundae from Sugarpine Drive-In (Troutdale, OR).
Each and every pastry at The Wild Crumb bakery (Bozeman, MT).
Fresh Crab! And get this, we caught them! (Rockaway Beach, OR).
august will NOT slip away!
I repeat! August will not slip away! (Casual TS reference 😉) This month is travel free for me! I have auditions for my next show, some finishing touches on my summer reading homework, and a little fishing trip planned soon so that’s very exciting. But otherwise, this month is pretty low-key. I start school at the end of the month which I am half scared half excited about (#scited)!! Thank you so much for reading, and be sure to like and comment so more people can see this article and more of my articles to come!

Let's talk malt powder sometime. Curious to know if you use both diastatic and non-diastatic.
